Mins passed since March '15

Fight Hawks Vs Lothian Derby Dolls  Sept. 2015

How did you get into roller derby?

I missed having an adrenaline fuelled, team sport, heard about roller derby and went and watched a game. I was hooked from then and waited 4 months to join the next intake. Since then I have never looked back!

Favourite derby moment:

Playing in the first ever Fight Hawks game, there was a real sense of team, and we managed to clinch the win in a nail biter of a game! Seeing how far everyone has come is amazing! Also my first game with the Northern Fights was a home game, we had all the support and took the win.

Most embarrassing derby moment:

No embarrassing ones as such, I quite often end up pretzled on the floor after a fall, one of these days my leggings will split. I also bruise like a peach so get asked a lot of questions from people who don't know I play derby.

How did you choose your derby name and number?

Peer pressure? I used to be Whips 'n' Lashes but the team all call me Un-Fairley kind of just happened plus I am used to from my rugby days. The number is my birthday.

What advice would you give to anyone interested in trying roller derby?

Roller Derby is loads of fun! So head on down and give it a go, what have you got to lose! Trust me I looked like bambi on ice when I first started! Just do it!

What's your favourite thing about GCRD?

It is like one big extended family with individuals from all walks of life, there is a real sense of community and I know that if I ever needed anything, that they would be there for me! Plus the nights out are always pretty epic!

Pre-game rituals:

An excuse to eat all the carbs - also get butterfly nerves eek!

Any skaters that inspire you?

All skaters from the newbies strapping on their skates to the hardened pros. Everyone is at a different stage of their roller derby journey and watching the progression, new skills and general support is inspiring!

What would you do differently if you were starting out today?

The only thing I wish I could have done differently is find out about it sooner so that I could of got my skate on years ago!

Skate set-up:

Still on my starter kit of Riedell's and 187 pads. But I have upgraded my wheels to Mid Zombie 89a and my pride and joy my black sparkly s1 helmet.

Derby goals:

To keep pushing every week to improve my agility/speed and strength! Most of all to keep having fun!

Hobbies outside of GCRD:

I'm a bit of a country bumpkin and love the outdoors; cycling, hill walking you name it! I am also a bit of a foodie and love to cook and eat out!
