Sho Time

Derby Name: Sho Time

Playing since:

2011

Teams played for:

Northern Fights

First bout:

Northern Fights vs. Parma Violents (away)

How did you get into roller derby?

I saw posters around Aberdeen featuring some of the girls looking like they were having fun. Silly names, fake blood... so I rushed off and joined only 2 years later!

Favourite derby moment:

Playing in Tenerife was a real high. It was the sweatiest game I'll probably ever have but I loved it, and then we had an amazing holiday with all the best people. Cabbage?

Most embarrassing derby moment:

Krusty using me to trailer off and suddenly feeling fresh air up my crack as she managed to pull down shorts, leggings and pants.

How did you choose your derby name and number?

Who doesn't want to skate out to an announcer saying "IIIIIIIIT'S SHO TIME!!"

What advice would you give to anyone interested in trying roller derby?

Anyone can do it, I had no experience with team sports or skating when I started. I just kept showing up every week, and I kept skating through all the drills, and one day- many months later- I was on the team. It's that simple, and that tough.

What's your favourite thing about GCRD?

We genuinely get on and make each other laugh and support each other.

Pre-game rituals:

I like to start bout day with a bacon roll and our legendary dance warm-up.

Any skaters that inspire you?

Queen Lousyateefa and any and all the big ladies out there who skate.

What would you do differently if you were starting out today?

Well firstly I'm jealous of the beginner training right now because I think it looks AMAZING! so yay for getting to be part of that, and having learned the hard way I would buy gaskets earlier and try not to drop so enthusiastically onto my knees all the time.

Skate set-up:

Brass Knuckle Blackout boots on Pilot Falcon plates with Zombie 89a wheels. And jam straps! How have I lived without them?

Derby goals:

Jam more. Improve my team. Promote this great sport and women in sport forever.

Hobbies outside of GCRD:

Art! I'm handy with a pencil. Mainly illustration at the moment and also working on my graphic design skills, which has come in handy for the league too, you can see my work gracing the pages of this very website and our new teal uniforms.
