The Fight Hawks Vs Lothian Derby Dolls 12/09/2015.
How did you get into roller derby?
I used to watch it when it was on cable TV at like 3am. It was in between extreme dodgeball and trampoline basketball, so basically the cool stuff. I forgot all about it until I was at college and met someone who took part at GCRG but until recently my work hours have always been in the way. So eventually I just got round to changing jobs.
Favourite derby moment:
Cracking through my 27/5. Big moment for me as we did it 3 consecutive weeks for Mins and each week I was adding a lap on to my time until I nailed it. NAILED IT! BOOM!
Most embarrassing derby moment:
Either when I randomly decided to facebutt the floor whilst weaving with everyone watching or ANY photos of me doing derby ever. THE awkwardest looking guy.
How did you choose your derby name and number?
I was all set up for picking something Pokemon based (ooooh yeah BP) but my favourite one. Arcanine doesn't work as a pun at all. So I picked my second, Rapidash. My number after so many tries is just my birthday.
What advice would you give to anyone interested in trying roller derby?
Just do it. Throw yourself in there. YOLO!
What's your favourite thing about GCRD?
The people have been the best but the community that GCRD are involved in and are a part of is phenomenal. Just mind blowing amazing.
Just chill. Maybe get a hair cut/ spa day. Treat myself basically! Oh and eat all the carbs!
Any skaters that inspire you?
I love to watch Bonnie Thunders, Suzie Hotrod, Skulled Eagle and Kamikazee Kitten. They are just in a league of their own.
What would you do differently if you were starting out today?
Get a mouthguard that doesn't remove chunks of gums. And research skates more before investing.
x1 helmet (with additional butterfly design), Smith wristguard, knee pads and elbows. Riedell R3. X4 Caymens 95a and x4 Fugitive 92a
Be better, faster, stronger and to never stop learning. Also I'd like to achieve being a decent all rounder.
Hobbies outside of GCRD:
Computer Games! Bubble baths, reading, Dungeons & Dragons and movies. Also anything Husky related.
